Your voice is like no other. It's original and that's hard to come by. The lyrics in the songs you wrote were great - you're the real deal.

Album #2... this is getting serious

February 24, 2010

Hey all!

Jennifer here. Just wanted to let you know that I am getting down to business with my second album. Well, I'm talking to some awesome producers, writing like crazy, and asking for prayer that I'd make good decisions... that's the level of the business as of yet! I'm getting excited!

If you'd add all that to your prayer lists, I'd highly appreciate it! And make sure you watch for the April tour dates (I'll post them soon) - come out and I guarantee you will hear some of the new tunes!

God's peace,

An update from Jennifer:

"Can you tell I'm just a little bit excited?? I received my very first FACTOR grant, which will go toward my trip to Calgary in October for the Gospel Music Association of Canada conference! There is a songwriting track as part of the conference and that's what this grant is designed to support. Dudes and dudettes, I am extremely stoked! Not only will I have 75% of my expenses covered by this program, but I am also going to be showcasing at the event! That big fat FACTOR envelope was a lovely treat to come home to after my wonderful eight day vacation in Saskatchewan!

GMAC trip, and Showcase

May 22, 2009

A note from Jennifer:

"Hey folks. This summer's looking like it's going to be pretty quiet, music wise, but that's alright, because it'll be jam packed with work stuff! But I've got some exciting news for the fall.

I am going to be attending the Gospel Music Association of Canada's 2009 Conference in Calgary. This will be a great chance for me to move to a new stage in my musical adventuring, meeting other people who are writing, performing, and recording music of all genres that honours God and lifts Him high. I can't wait! I will also be participating in an intensive songwriting seminar that is part of the conference, and I've even submitted a FACTOR grant (Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent On Recordings) to help with the finances. I'd appreciate your prayers for that application to be considered favourably!

I also received word today that I've received a showcase spot at the GMAC week! I am really excited about this - a great opportunity to show what I can do, make new friends, and promote the album. Check out the Shows page to get the details - all you Calgarians - I better see you there!!

Have an awesome weekend - I know I will!

Peace,

Big Win at the SCMAs!

May 05, 2009

JJK's album, "Somehow it always does..." came away from the 2009 Saskatchewan Country Music Association awards in Nipawin, Saskatchewan with the trophy for Gospel Album of the Year. The awards ceremony, hosted by George Canyon, was a highlight of the talent-filled 3-day SCMA conference.

The awards weekend was followed by a stop at the Lutheran Church-Canada Central District conference in Regina for a concert, backed up by good friends Slim Sixty and Sarah Klym.

Watch JJK's MySpace for a full blog of the adventure.

Pair of SCMA Nominations!

March 02, 2009

A note from JJK -

"Hey folks!

I just had an incredible weekend. Not only did I get to hang out with my youth group at a fantastic weekend retreat (RUSH), and not only did I have a wonderful birthday (many happy bday songs, a surprise cake, and one of my youth wrapped in toilet paper = my present... hahaha), I got word last night that my album, "Somehow it always does..." has been nominated for two Saskatchewan Country Music Awards! The album has been nominated for Gospel Album of the Year and Album of the Year! Wow... my producer, my mom, and I are all VERY excited!!! :D Because I spent the majority of last year in Saskatchewan (and all my life prior, for that matter) and because we released the album in Saskatchewan in 2008, I am eligible for this year's awards. I feel SO blessed to receive recognition for something I adore doing, and that brings me so much joy. Apparently, it brings other people joy too, and honestly, it couldn't make me happier!

All you SCMA members out there, I hope you'll take a listen to your copy of the album or play the tracks on my MySpace and see if you will consider voting for the album on your ballot. No matter what, I'm stoked to be nominated, can't WAIT to head to Nipawin for the awards weekend, and I'm just floating on air right now!

Blessings, and for all of you who have crazy dreams - follow them. You never know what might happen!

Happy New Year note

January 08, 2009

Here's a message from JJK, recently posted on her MySpace:

"In the midst of a lovely blizzard and -40 (with the windchill) temperatures, I rang in 2009 back home in Saskatchewan. It was a relaxing evening, catching up with some friends. I am quite optimistic about this brand new year, and I'm excited to see what it will hold for all of us.

2008 was an incredible year, full of experiences I will never forget. The RadioStar songwriting competition and my gig at Canadian Music Week, a third place finish at the CKRM Talent Show, a great performance out at the Craven Jamboree, finally releasing "Somehow it always does...", and then a big life surprise moving me off to Kelowna, BC for a brand new chapter. Bizarre. So much stuff, and it all happened so fast.

I want to thank everyone who had a part in any of these grand adventures, especially the album and the CD release party. It is literally a dream come true to finally have an album in hand, and I am so proud of it. My producer Dennis and I continue to receive lovely comments about the songs and production, and we are so pleased with how it all ended up!

I'm looking ahead into this new year and hoping to do some touring here and there, so if you have an event or a venue that you would love to see me at, let me know and we'll see what we can put together!

Blessings from Kelowna BC,

<><

Broke Even, Baby!

November 21, 2008

JJK posted this message on her MySpace this morning, after getting some fantastic news. Read up!

"Hey lovelies,

After less than three months since the official release of "Somehow it always does..." my producer just emailed to tell me that we have officially broken even on the album project! Wahoo!!! Thanks to all the wonderful people who helped make this happen - like my producer Dennis Hendricksen/Golden Flame Records/Aurora Productions for all the hard work, my old roommate Kim for buying so many copies and giving them away, my mom for selling them to EVERYONE she's EVER MET EVERYWHERE, including in grocery store parking lots and the Weyburn Dairy Queen... etc. I am SO blessed to have all these wonderful people in my life who believe in me and believe in the music.

So, all that being said, keep buying the album, people! This is the point where I start making money, and I need to start buying Christmas presents! Hahaha... If you are interested in a copy of the album, just go to www.jenniferjadekerr.com where you can find a downloadable order form on the Media page.

Blessings, everyone, and happy Friday!

24 days...

August 13, 2008

2 times 12.
4 times 6.
3 weeks, and a bit.

After nearly three years of planning and recording, the countdown is on to the release of JJK's debut album, "Somehow it always does..." After a last day of furious mixing and mastering in order to make the pressing deadline, JJK and her producer, Dennis Hendricksen of Golden Flame Records, put the CD master on the Greyhound Bus on Monday morning, and wished it well on its journey to Canada Disc & Tape in Saskatoon for duplication.

Preparations for the CD release party, Saturday September 6 at 7:00 pm, are in full swing. Band members are receiving their rehearsal CDs, the Campus Services department at Western Christian College and High School are filling in the venue plans, and JJK's mom is figuring out exactly what to serve for refreshments! Posters are going up all over Regina, from coffee shops to churches, and the Facebook event page is already 70 people strong!

A note from JJK - "I am overwhelmed by the support and excitement that people are showing about the album, the event, and the fact that we finally reached our goal of getting this album finished. This is something I've dreamed about for so long, and I am floored by all the talented people who shared their gifts with Dennis and I to make the album a reality. I am really proud of what we've come up with, and it will be my pleasure to share "Somehow it always does..." with all the wonderful people who have been asking for it for years!"

If you would like to help promote the CD release party, email jjk@jenniferjadekerr.com and request posters, or details, or share your ideas of how to spread the news about the event.

Some Big News...

July 14, 2008

" Hey friends,

I have a bit of a story to tell you. Through a rather bizarre and entirely unexpected chain of events, I am going to be moving to Kelowna, BC in September. I have been called to serve First Lutheran Church in Kelowna in the capacity of Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries. I was not looking for a move or a change in employment, but I believe God placed this opportunity in my way and then proceeded to shoot down all the barriers that I put up against it! Unreal...

My goal is to release the album before I leave, and I am going to work my hardest to make sure that happens. Part of my struggle with this idea of moving is knowing I have so many wonderful friends, fellow musicians, and (dare I say it?) fans that I adore here in the Skatch that I will be moving away from. But my prayer is that we will still keep in touch, that you will still enjoy the music, and that I will be touring through as much as I can swing it!

So keep watching here for updates, and as soon as you hear about the date of the release party, plan to come! It'll be a chance to say hello to the album (finally) and a bit of a good-bye to me.

Richest blessings, and all my love!

J "

May 23, 2008

At a "Sing Your Own Song" event at the Cathedral Village Free House (a presentation of the Cathedral Village Arts Festival), JJK came out on top with her song "I Don't Want You to Know". The competition was open to singer/songwriters in the Regina community, or basically anyone who was there and had a song to sing. Everything from folk to beatnik poetry to songs about bannock were presented to a happy audience, and JJK was honoured to win top prize in such a talented group of people.

"I Don't Want You to Know" was the Regional Winner through Z99 for the 2008 Radiostar National Songwriting Competition, and will also be on JJK's upcoming album, "Somehow it always does..." Check it out on her MySpace now!

February 05, 2008
